4️⃣ Worship is the protocol that protects the King and qualifies the visitor.

5️⃣ Influence flows from intimacy, and access comes from relationship.

6️⃣ If you learn what the King favours, you can become a favourite.

πŸ‚ Interesting Facts About Bokolo Cattle in Nigeria! πŸ‚

Bokolo cattle, also known as White Fulani, are a true pride of Nigeria! With their beautiful white coats and impressive horns, they stand out in any herd. These cattle are not just good-looking; they are incredibly tough and can handle Nigeria’s hot and dry weather without any trouble. This makes them perfect for our environment, thriving where other animals might struggle.

Bokolo cattle are a farmer’s best friend. Not only do they provide delicious and nutritious meat, but they also give rich milk that can be used to make fresh, tasty dairy products like yogurt and cheese. And they are strong enough to help with farm work too! Many Nigerian farmers rely on them to plow fields and transport goods, saving time and effort.

These cattle are more than just animals—they are a big part of our culture and traditions. In many communities, owning a Bokolo cow is a sign of wealth and success. They play a special role in ceremonies and festivals, adding a touch of tradition and pride to every event. Their gentle nature makes them easy to handle, which is a big plus for farmers.

What’s more, Bokolo cattle are naturally resistant to many common diseases, meaning they are easier to care for and keep healthy. This reduces the cost of veterinary care, making them a smart choice for anyone looking to start or expand a herd. Their ability to stay strong and healthy in tough conditions is one of the reasons why they are so valued.

Economically, these cattle are a treasure. They fetch good prices in local markets and are a reliable source of income for many Nigerian families. From providing milk and meat to helping with farm work and being a symbol of prosperity, Bokolo cattle are truly invaluable to Nigerian life.

So, when you see a herd of Bokolo cattle grazing peacefully, remember they are not just animals but a vital part of our history, economy, and daily life! πŸ„πŸ’š

God Is Our Help: Returning to Him for Victory and Peace

Beloved, today let's draw inspiration from 1 Samuel 7—a story of Israel's journey back to God. The Ark of the Lord, symbolizing God's presence, was brought to the home of Abinadab, and for twenty years, Israel felt distant from God. They mourned, feeling abandoned, but God was still watching over them.

Samuel, the prophet, called the people to true repentance. He asked them to put away their foreign gods and focus only on the Lord. He told them, "If you are serious about returning to the Lord, get rid of anything that takes His place in your heart." And the people obeyed. They destroyed their idols and turned back to God with all their hearts.

My brothers and sisters, this story is a powerful reminder that God's mercy is always within reach, no matter how far we've wandered. But true repentance requires action. It means letting go of anything that separates us from God—be it fear, doubt, or distractions of this world.

When the Philistines attacked, Israel was afraid, but they did not run away. They cried out to God, and Samuel prayed for them. As Samuel sacrificed a lamb, the Lord responded with a mighty thunder, throwing the enemy into confusion, and Israel won the victory.

Just like the Israelites, we may face battles that seem overwhelming. But when we turn back to God, He fights for us. He confuses the plans of our enemies and gives us victory.

Samuel set up a stone and named it Ebenezer, meaning "stone of help," saying, "Up to this point, the Lord has helped us." Today, let us remember our own "Ebenezers"—the moments when God has stepped in and helped us, even when all seemed lost.

As long as Samuel was alive, the hand of the Lord was against Israel's enemies, and peace reigned in the land. This is what happens when we walk closely with God—He gives us peace, restores what was lost, and keeps us safe from our enemies.

So today, let us examine our hearts. Are there idols we need to destroy? Are we serious about returning to the Lord? If we are, let's cry out to Him, for He is ready to hear, to forgive, and to fight our battles.

Remember, God is our Ebenezer—our stone of help. And just as He helped Israel, He will help you, too, if you trust in Him.

Amen.

πŸ“š Key Insights from "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol S. Dweck

🌸 Introduction

- Changing people's beliefs - even the simplest ones - can have profound effects.

- Much of what you think of as your personality grows out of your mindset.

- Much of what may be preventing you from fulfilling your potential stems from it.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 1: The Mindsets

- Everyone has a role model, someone who pointed the way at a critical moment in their lives.

- Human qualities, such as intellectual skills, can be cultivated.

- Your intelligence or personality is something you can develop as opposed to something that is a fixed, deep-seated trait.

- Education and practice can bring about fundamental changes in intelligence.

- People have more capacity for lifelong learning and brain development than they ever thought.

- People may start with different temperaments and different aptitudes, but it is clear that experience, training, and personal effort can take them the rest of the way.

- It's not always the people who start out the smartest who end up the smartest.

- The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life. It can determine whether you become the person you want to become and whether you accomplish the things you value.

- One thing exceptional people seem to have is a special talent for converting life's setbacks into future successes.

- The fixed mindset makes you concerned with how you will be judged; the growth mindset makes you concerned with improving.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 2: Inside the Mindsets

- Mindsets are simply beliefs. They are powerful, but they are just thoughts in your mind, and you can change them.

- People with a growth mindset push themselves so hard that they achieve the impossible.

- People with a growth mindset thrive when they challenge themselves.

- People with a growth mindset understand that it takes time for potential to blossom.

- Even with a growth mindset, failure can be painful. But it doesn’t define you. It’s a problem to face, deal with, and learn from.

- Mindsets are an important part of your personality, but you can change them. By just knowing about the two types of mindsets, you can start thinking and reacting in new ways.

- People with a fixed mindset crave to be at the top, but many growth-minded people reach the top because of their passion for what they do.

- The growth mindset is the belief that abilities can be developed.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 3: The Truth About Ability and Accomplishment

- Working hard isn't a sign of weakness; it's the key to getting smarter.

- Your progress is only as good as your knowledge. Every time you learn something new, you move forward.

- Many people think talent is a natural gift. In reality, it's fueled by constant curiosity and the desire to take on challenges.

- Great achievements require a lot of effort.

- Those who have surpassed you aren't necessarily more intelligent or talented; they simply used better strategies, learned more, practiced diligently, and overcame obstacles.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 4: Sports: The Mindset of A Champion

- In sports, everyone believes in talent. Billy Beane was a natural, just like how people saw him as the next Babe Ruth. But Billy lacked one crucial thing: the mindset of a πŸ†. When he began to fail, he realized that mindset was more important than talent.

- Take Muhammad Ali, for example. His brilliance came from his mind. It wasn't just his strength; he outsmarted his opponents.

- For Michael Jordan, success was also rooted in his mind.

- People often value natural talent over hard-earned ability, as Malcolm Gladwell points out.

- We like to think our heroes and idols are born different from us, but they are often ordinary people who made themselves extraordinary.

- Sampras and Joyner-Kersee showed all the qualities of a hero: losing the first set, almost being defeated, and then making a comeback to win in the end.

- According to Billie Jean King, the mark of a champion is the ability to win even when things are not quite right.

- Coach John Wooden said that ability can get you to the top, but character is what keeps you there.

- Those with a growth mindset find success in doing their best, learning, and improving. This is what we see in champions.

- A superstar’s talent can win games, but it's teamwork that wins championships.

- Character, heart, and the mind of a champion are what make great athletes. These qualities come from a growth mindset focused on self-development, self-motivation, and responsibility.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 5: Mindset and Leadership

- People with a fixed mindset do not admit or correct their shortcomings.

- When people live in an environment that values them for their natural talent, they struggle greatly when their image is threatened, according to Gladwell.

- A company that cannot self-correct cannot succeed.

- What sets a thriving company apart is the type of leader who drives it to greatness. These leaders face failures head-on, including their own, while maintaining faith in their eventual success.

- Fixed-mindset leaders, like fixed-minded individuals, live in a world where some people are superior and others are inferior.

- When bosses become controlling and abusive, they force everyone into a fixed mindset. Instead of learning, growing, and advancing the company, everyone starts worrying about being judged.

- It's hard for courage and innovation to thrive in a company with a fixed mindset.

- Andrew Carnegie once said, "I wish to have as an epitaph: 'Here lies a man who was wise enough to bring into his service men who knew more than he.'"

- When you enter the world of growth-mindset leaders, everything changes. It brightens, expands, and fills with energy and possibility.

- One of the key skills a successful businessperson must have is negotiation.

- People can grow and improve with effort, good strategies, and effective mentoring.

- Create an environment that values the development of ability, and watch leaders emerge.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 6: Relationships: Mindsets in Love (Or Not)

- For those with a growth mindset, the number one goal is forgiveness.

- *"Tout comprendre, c'est tout pardonner."* To understand all is to forgive all.

- People with a fixed mindset often expect good things to happen automatically, without putting in the necessary effort.

- A lasting relationship requires effort and the willingness to work through inevitable differences.

- Communication is crucial in any relationship. Discuss things openly; don’t make assumptions.

- A relationship without effort is doomed, not great. It takes work to communicate clearly and to address and resolve conflicting hopes and dreams.

- In a relationship, a growth mindset helps you rise above blame, understand the problem, and work together to fix it.

- The essence of marriage is to encourage your partner's growth while they encourage yours.

- Be compassionate, not judgmental. Show care and understanding towards others.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 7: Parents, Teachers, and Coaches: Where do Mindsets Come From?

- Every word and action sends a message. It tells children, students, or athletes how to view themselves. It might send a fixed-mindset message, saying, "You have permanent traits, and I'm judging them." Or it could send a growth mindset message, saying, "You are growing, and I’m committed to helping you develop."

- If parents want to give their children a valuable gift, they should teach them to love challenges, embrace mistakes, enjoy putting in effort, seek new strategies, and keep learning. This way, their children won't rely solely on praise for their confidence. They will have a lasting way to build and maintain self-belief.

- Haim Ginott, through his lifelong work with children, concluded, "Praise should focus not on the child's personality traits but on their efforts and achievements."

- Parents must strive to give their children the best by nurturing their interests, growth, and learning.

- A successful student is one who aims to expand their knowledge and explore new ways of thinking. They view grades not as an end goal but as a step towards growth.

- When parents help their children develop a growth mindset, they are giving them something valuable to strive for. They are also providing them with space to grow into well-rounded individuals who will make meaningful contributions to society.

- Great teachers believe in the growth of intellect and talent and are passionate about the learning process.

- Excellent teachers set high standards for all their students, not just for those who are already performing well.

- You don’t achieve a growth mindset by simply declaring it; it’s a journey you embark on.

- Parents who respond to their children’s setbacks with curiosity and view them as learning opportunities are instilling a growth mindset in their children.

- Research shows that when teachers focus on deeper understanding and work with students to achieve it, students are more likely to believe that their abilities can be developed.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 8: Changing Mindsets

- 🌱 The growth mindset is like a powerful engine driving change in your life. It's about believing that you can always improve, no matter where you start.

- πŸ’ Your beliefs shape your happiness or unhappiness. When you think positively, you open doors to joy and success; but when you let negativity control you, it’s like shutting those doors.

-πŸšͺ People with a fixed mindset often think the world needs to change for them. They might avoid problems, believing that if their life isn't perfect, they aren't either. But those with a growth mindset see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, not as reasons to give up.

- 🌟 With a growth mindset, instead of holding onto judgment and bitterness, you gain fresh perspectives and new skills. You become more involved, eager to learn, and excel in what you do.

- πŸ”‘ When you let go of thinking in terms of good or bad, strong or weak, you unlock the ability to learn valuable strategies for self-control and success. Whether it's advancing your career, healing from a loss, supporting your children, losing weight, or managing anger, maintaining change is key.

- πŸš€ It’s incredible how people often stop the actions that helped them improve once they start feeling better. It’s like quitting your medicine because you’re no longer sick.

- πŸ” Changing your mindset isn’t just about picking up a few tips; it’s about seeing the world in a new light. When you adopt a growth mindset, you move from judging and being judged to learning and helping others learn. Growth requires time, effort, and the support of others, but the results are truly amazing.

Why Peaceful Protests Matter: Lessons For Africa

Across Africa, from Kenya to Uganda and now in Nigeria, protests have been shaking our continent. People are standing up to voice their frustrations and demand change. While these protests reflect deep-seated issues, it’s crucial to remember that peaceful protests are the best way to achieve real, lasting change.

Protests are a sign that people are unhappy with the status quo. In Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria, citizens are demanding better governance, fair treatment, and improved living conditions. Their voices are a powerful call for justice and reform. However, for these protests to lead to meaningful change, they must remain peaceful.

Why Peace Matters

1. Safety First: Peaceful protests ensure that people’s safety is prioritized. Violence can lead to unnecessary harm and can turn a peaceful movement into chaos.

2. Focused Message: When protests are peaceful, the message is clearer. It shows that the demands are reasonable and that the people are committed to change, not conflict.

3. Building Trust: Peaceful protests help build trust between the people and the authorities. It opens up channels for dialogue and increases the chances that the government will listen and act on the demands.

Meeting the Demands

To prevent further agitation, it is essential that the demands of the people are met. Ignoring these demands only fuels frustration and can lead to more unrest. Governments must address the issues raised in these protests, whether they are about corruption, inequality, or poor services. By listening and taking action, they can help restore faith in the system and promote a more stable and just society.

A Call for Unity

Let’s support the spirit of peaceful protest across Africa. It’s our collective effort that will drive the changes we need. By staying united and peaceful, we can push for a better future where everyone’s voice is heard, and everyone’s rights are respected.

Together, let’s advocate for positive change with calm and determination. Peaceful protests are not just a right; they are a powerful tool for building a better Africa.
