πŸ“– Key Insights from Stephen R. Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Stephen R. Covey was a highly respected leadership expert, teacher, and consultant, known for his teachings on personal and professional development. His book, *_The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People_*, is a guide to living a purposeful, successful life by developing good habits and strong character.

πŸ“– *Key Insights from Stephen R. Covey's _The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People_*

πŸ’«✨ *Interdependence is a higher value than independence*

Covey emphasizes that true success comes from working together rather than doing everything on your own.

πŸ”— *Part One: Paradigms and Principles*

⛵ *Paradigms are how we see the world*

Covey explains that two people can look at the same situation and have different opinions—and both can be right. It's not about logic but about how we see the world based on our personal experiences.

✨ *Right principles lead to right living*

David Starr Jordan’s quote sums it up: "There is no real excellence in all this world which can be separated from right living."

✨ *Character vs. Personality*

Covey compares two social paradigms: *Character ethic* (values that shape who we are inside) and *Personality ethic* (what we show on the outside). Focusing only on personality leads to short-term success, while character is key to long-term fulfillment.

✨ *Principles are the foundation*

Like a map leading us to the right place, principles guide our actions. Values can be personal, but principles are universal—they apply to everyone and help us live effectively. (Imagine you’re all set to travel to Chicago, but instead of using the right map, you grab one for Detroit! You follow every step on that Detroit map perfectly—smiling, staying positive, and believing you're on the right track. But no matter how much positive thinking you apply, you're headed in the wrong direction! It’s like trying to find jollof rice at a party but ending up at the pounded yam stand. Positive vibes are great, but with the wrong map, you'll still end up lost!)

✨ *The inside-out approach*

Change begins within. Covey encourages us to focus on our character first. Whether it's being a better spouse, parent, employer or employee, start by improving yourself. True success flows from strong character.

✨ *Growth takes time*

Just like a baby learns to crawl before walking, personal growth happens step by step. We can't skip any stage if we want long-lasting success.

✨ *How we see problems is often the problem*

Sometimes, changing our perspective on a problem is the first step to solving it. As Albert Einstein said, "We can't solve problems by using the same thinking that created them."

⛵ *The 7 Habits (Overview)*

Habits define our lives. Covey emphasizes that habits are a blend of *knowledge* (knowing what to do), *skill* (knowing how to do it), and *desire* (wanting to do it). Developing good habits leads to excellence.

✨ *Private victories come before public victories*

Before you can succeed with others, you must first succeed with yourself. Build trust, keep promises to yourself, and develop your character.

✨ *Balance short-term and long-term success*

Covey uses the analogy of balancing "production" (results) and "production capability" (taking care of the source). Whether it’s maintaining a healthy relationship or managing assets, long-term success comes from balancing both.

Keeping the P/PC balance—between the golden egg (production) and the well-being of the goose (production capability)—is not always easy, but it's the secret to true success. It’s about balancing short-term wins with long-term growth.

πŸ”— *Part Two: Private Victory*

✨ *Habit 1: Be Proactive (Principles of Personal Vision)*

🌱 *You hold the key to your own growth!* Being proactive means taking charge of your life, not letting your circumstances, emotions, or the actions of others define you. As humans, we are blessed with the unique ability to choose our response in any situation. Unlike animals, which are driven by instincts, we have the freedom to act based on values and principles.

🌟 *Self-awareness is power*—it allows us to step back and see how we view ourselves and the world around us. If we base our self-worth only on what society says, it's like looking at a distorted mirror at a carnival, where nothing reflects our true potential. *Proactive people choose their own paths*; they don't wait for life to happen to them, they make things happen!

🌿 *Take control of your response* – Proactivity is about responsibility, which simply means *"response-ability"*. It's not about blaming the weather or people around us for how we feel or act. It's about choosing to stay true to your values, no matter the circumstances. Whether it rains or shines, you can "carry your own weather" and remain focused on what truly matters.

πŸ”₯ *Shift your energy to what you can control*—your Circle of Influence. Instead of wasting time complaining about things you can't change, invest your energy in improving yourself, your relationships, and your immediate environment. This positive energy will not only change you but will also influence those around you.

✨ *The Joseph Example*—Just like Joseph in the Bible who, despite being sold into slavery, rose to power by staying proactive and focusing on what he could do, you too can choose to rise above your situation and shine.

πŸ’‘ *Your power to choose your response is your greatest strength!* Work on yourself, on your mindset, and on the things within your control. As you do this, you'll expand your influence and make a lasting impact on the world around you.

✨ *Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind (Principles of Personal Leadership)*

🧠✨ *Start with a Clear Vision*:

Covey teaches that everything is created twice—first in the mind, then in reality. Begin with a clear understanding of where you want to go in life. This ensures that your daily actions align with your ultimate goals.

🎯πŸ”₯ *Focus on What Matters Most*:

It’s easy to be busy without being productive. By keeping the end in mind, you ensure that your efforts are focused on what is truly important. This prevents you from climbing the ladder of success only to find it leaning against the wrong wall.

🌱πŸ’ͺ *Be Proactive in Creating Your Life*:

If you don’t consciously design your life, circumstances or other people will. Covey emphasizes the power of self-awareness, imagination, and conscience, which allow you to take charge and create your own path.

πŸ“πŸš€ *Develop a Personal Mission Statement*:

One of the most effective ways to live with purpose is by writing a personal mission statement. This statement defines your character, contributions, and values. It acts as your life’s compass, guiding you toward what you truly want to achieve.

πŸ§πŸ† *Leadership Over Management*:

Covey distinguishes between leadership and management. Leadership is about doing the right things—ensuring your efforts are in line with your ultimate vision. Management is about doing things right, but without proper leadership, efficiency won’t guarantee success.

πŸ‘€πŸ… *Visualize Success*:

Like world-class athletes who visualize their victories, Covey encourages us to *see* our success in our minds before it happens. By keeping your destination in mind, you remain motivated and focused on the right steps to achieve your goals.

πŸ”‘πŸŒ *Live by Principles*:

A principle-centered life provides a solid foundation. Principles don’t change—they are timeless and reliable. By centering your life on these unchanging truths, you create security and a strong foundation for personal growth and effectiveness.

Covey’s Habit 2 inspires us to live with intention, making sure every step we take moves us closer to the life we truly want to create. πŸŒŸπŸ’Ό

🌢️✨ Imagine you're cooking jollof rice 🍲. You know that the secret is mixing the right spices with your special touch, or it won’t taste the way you want! That’s what Habit 3 in Covey's book teaches: *putting first things first*

✨ *Habit 3: Put First Things First (Principles of Personal Management)* to make the most of your time and talent! 🌟

- *Things That Matter Most*

Like cooking jollof, don’t let the main ingredients get pushed aside by distractions! Focus on what truly matters—those goals and dreams that add real spice to your life! 🎯

- *Building on the Foundation*

Before you start Habit 3, you must know yourself (Habit 1) and set a clear vision (Habit 2). If you don’t know your priorities, how can you put them first? 🌱

- *Self-Discipline Is Key*

When you’re centered on your values, you’ll find that the discipline to follow through comes from deep inside. It’s like keeping the fire low for that perfect simmer—only you can control it! πŸ”₯

- *Quadrant II Activities*

Spend time on activities that help you grow: building relationships, spotting new opportunities, and planning. Don’t let emergencies pull you away from the important things that aren’t urgent but help you grow. 🌿

- *Urgency vs. Importance*

Ever feel pulled in many directions? That’s because urgent things scream “NOW!” But the real game-changers are often the quiet goals that don’t demand attention but make the biggest difference. πŸ’ͺ

- *Opportunity-Focused, Not Problem-Focused*

Effective people look for opportunities, not problems. They’re like farmers planting seeds and nurturing them instead of fighting weeds all day. 🌾

- *The "Best" vs. The "Good"*

Sometimes, what’s “good” distracts us from what’s “best.” Every “yes” means a “no” to something else, so focus on the things that push you toward your highest goals! 🌟

- *Daily Decisions: The Power of Yes and No*

Every day, we choose how to spend our time. If you know what truly matters, you can say “yes” and “no” wisely, keeping you focused and feeling fulfilled. 🌈

- *Lead Yourself First, Then Manage*

Just like you see yourself as a leader, you’ll begin to manage your time based on your deepest values. It’s like giving your best energy to what you love most! 🌻

- *Balanced Living with Quadrant II Management*

Effective living comes from focusing on the urgent and the important but with balance—giving time to both work and rest, dreams and family. πŸ•Š️

- *People Are Not Things*

People need attention, not efficiency. When you spend quality time with others, even if it takes longer, it builds strong, lasting relationships. πŸ€—

- *Delegation: Multiply Your Impact*

Delegating to others empowers them and gives you time to focus on your own high-value tasks. Letting go is powerful, allowing growth for everyone. 🌍

- *Stewardship Delegation*

Don’t just tell people “do this, do that.” Trust them to do their best and let them be creative in their methods. Trust takes patience, but it’s worth it because it brings out the best in everyone. 🌟

- *Trust: The Foundation of Success*

When you trust others, they give their best back. It’s like the magic in teamwork; trust motivates people beyond just doing a job. 🀝

- *Living Quadrant II Daily*

By focusing on the big picture and your deep values, you can walk your talk and live your priorities every single week. It’s the path to true fulfillment, powered by purpose, not anyone else's expectations! πŸ’«

Remember, managing your life is like perfecting your jollof rice recipe: when you put the important things first, you create a life that’s flavourful, fulfilling, and uniquely yours! 🌢️🍲✨

πŸ”— Part Three: Public Victory

⛵ Paradigms of Interdependence

Imagine a world where our relationships are filled with trust, respect, and mutual support. Stephen R. Covey teaches us that this world is possible through the habits of effective interdependence. To thrive with others, we first must conquer our inner battles, mastering ourselves before we can truly connect with those around us.

*πŸ’ͺ Self-Mastery Leads to Success*

Before we can work effectively with others, we need to develop self-discipline and self-mastery. Just like learning algebra before tackling calculus, our personal victories lay the groundwork for our public successes. This journey starts with understanding ourselves and nurturing our personal growth.

*🏦 The Emotional Bank Account*

Think of your relationships as an Emotional Bank Account. Each act of kindness, honesty, and commitment adds to this account, building trust. When we consistently make deposits through our actions, we create a reservoir of goodwill that can buffer against misunderstandings and mistakes. Just like in a financial bank, a strong balance allows for flexibility in communication and strengthens our connections.

*⏳ Relationships Take Time*

In a fast-paced world, we often seek quick fixes, but real relationships require investment. Patience is key; true growth and understanding develop over time. Instead of pulling at the roots of our relationships, let’s nurture them, allowing trust and respect to blossom naturally. 🌺

*🀝 The Golden Rule*

Covey reminds us of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” This means truly understanding others' needs and treating them with the same respect and care you desire. It’s about seeing each person as unique and deserving of empathy, thus strengthening our bonds. ❤️

*πŸ’¬ Integrity and Loyalty*

One of the greatest tests of character is how we treat others when they are not present. By defending those who are absent, we reinforce trust among those who are with us. Acknowledging our mistakes also shows humility. While we all make errors, it’s crucial to own them and strive for improvement. πŸ™Œ

*🌍 Seeing Problems as Opportunities*

When we view challenges as chances to deepen our relationships, everything changes. Instead of seeing our children’s problems as burdens, we can recognize them as opportunities to connect and support. This shift transforms our interactions from mere transactions into meaningful connections. 🌈

*✨ The Power of Relationships in Business*

In the business world, this paradigm shift can foster customer loyalty. When businesses treat problems as opportunities to serve and build relationships, they create environments where customers feel valued and cherished. This approach encourages lasting connections that go beyond simple transactions. πŸ†

As we embrace these principles, let’s remember that true interdependence flourishes only when we are grounded in our own independence. By investing in ourselves and our relationships, we can achieve the public victories that enhance our lives and the lives of those around us. So, let’s step into this journey of growth, understanding, and heartfelt connections! πŸŒŸπŸ’–

Imagine you’re in a game of musical chairs, and there are only two seats left, but three people standing. Most people will scramble to secure a chair, pushing others aside! But what if, instead of fighting, they joined forces and found a third chair together? This is the spirit of "Think Win/Win"—everyone finding a seat without pushing anyone away. 😊

*✨ Habit 4: Think Win/Win (Principles of Interpersonal Leadership)*

*🌟 The Golden Rule in Action:*

It's one thing to know the Golden Rule—treat others as you want to be treated—but it's even more powerful to live it out every day. When we “Think Win/Win,” we shift from competition to cooperation, helping everyone thrive in family, business, and friendships.

*πŸ’¬ Six Paradigms of Human Interaction:*

"Think Win/Win" is more than a trick; it’s a full-life philosophy! Covey teaches six ways people interact, but *Win/Win* brings the best results:

- *Win/Win*

- *Win/Lose*

- *Lose/Win*

- *Lose/Lose*

- *Win*

- *Win/Win or No Deal*

*🎯 Three Core Traits for Win/Win Success:*

At the heart of "Win/Win" are three character strengths:

1. *Integrity* – staying true to your values.

2. *Maturity* – courage to share your views while respecting others.

3. *Abundance Mentality* – the belief there’s enough for everyone. No need to compete when we all can succeed!

*πŸ’ͺ Courage Meets Consideration:*

"Win/Win" takes a brave heart and a caring soul. It means speaking your truth while being sensitive to others, showing empathy without losing confidence.

*🌍 Public Victory - True Success Together:*

Public Victory isn’t about beating others; it’s about joining hands to create something great together. With "Win/Win," even challenges become opportunities, as everyone benefits from the outcome.

*🀝 Genuine Agreements that Last:*

A real Win/Win agreement isn’t a trick or quick fix. It’s built on trust, a strong character, and clear goals that everyone agrees on. These agreements create peace, loyalty, and lasting relationships.

*πŸ“˜ Wisdom from Harvard Negotiators:*

Covey highlights the power of "principled" negotiation from Harvard experts: Focus on the problem, not the person. Look for shared interests, not rigid positions. This spirit of mutual gain mirrors Win/Win, making it possible to find solutions everyone can embrace.

*πŸš€ The Win/Win Difference:*

Win/Win isn’t about personalities; it’s a lifestyle of collaboration. It grows out of deep trust, where expectations are clear, relationships are respected, and success is shared.

Imagine this: your friend tells you they're stressed about work, and before they finish, you jump in with, “Just sleep early!” or “Take a break!” Now they’re thinking, “Did you even hear me?” This is what happens when we skip listening and rush to give advice. πŸ˜‚

*✨Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be

Understood (Principles of Empathic Communication)*

*🌟 Listen First, Talk Later:*

Covey’s Habit 5 is simple but powerful—before giving advice or sharing your views, truly listen. This habit can transform relationships, helping you connect better with family, friends, and even coworkers.

*πŸ—£️ The Art of Listening:*

We’ve spent years learning to read, write, and speak—but what about listening? Deep listening means focusing on what someone else is saying and understanding their feelings and thoughts. When you listen well, you build trust and strong bonds.

*πŸ’– Filling the “Emotional Bank”:*

Listening with empathy builds what Covey calls the “Emotional Bank Account” in your relationships. Just like you save money, you build up trust and connection, which are “savings” you can rely on during tough times.

*🧘 Psychological Air—Everyone Needs It:*

Every person has a need to feel understood and valued. When you listen with empathy, you give them “psychological air”—they feel seen and appreciated, and this helps both of you solve problems together.

*πŸ›€️ Path to Clear Communication:*

To connect well, follow this three-step formula: *Ethos (credibility), Pathos (empathy), and Logos (logic)*. First, show you are trustworthy (ethos), then show empathy (pathos), and finally, share your ideas (logos). This order respects the other person and makes your ideas more powerful.

*πŸš€ Habit 5: The Start of Win/Win Solutions:*

Listening first is the foundation of Win/Win results. Even if the other person isn’t coming from a Win/Win mindset, listening opens the way for mutual understanding.

*πŸ’‘ Key Takeaway:*

Habit 5 teaches us that listening deeply is the key to real connection and effective communication. When we understand others first, we make stronger relationships and find better solutions together. So, next time, pause, listen fully, and watch the magic unfold! πŸŽ‰

*✨Habit 6: Synergize (Principles of Creative Cooperation)*

🌟 *Synergy Brings Us Together*

- True synergy means working together in a way that brings out the best in everyone. It’s about blending our strengths and ideas to achieve great things we couldn’t do alone. Just like two trees planted close together, their roots connect, making each other stronger and healthier. 🌳🌳🀝

πŸŽ‰ *Celebrate Differences, Embrace Unity*

- Just like men and women bring different strengths to a family, each of us has unique gifts to share. Our differences aren’t problems—they help us learn and grow together. When we respect each other, we build a strong community filled with trust and support. 🌍🫱🏿‍🫲🏻🌈

πŸš€ *Trust the Process of Creation*

- The journey to synergy is exciting but sometimes uncertain. You may not always know where it will take you, but trust that it will lead to amazing results. It takes courage to go into the unknown, like a trailblazer opening doors for others. πŸŒ…πŸ‘£πŸ’ͺ

🌿 *Synergy in Nature – Lessons in Growth*

- Nature shows us synergy in action! Two pieces of wood together carry more weight than they could alone. In synergy, 1 + 1 isn’t just 2—it can be 3 or even more. When we work together, we achieve results that are stronger and better than we imagined. 🌲➕🌲=πŸ’₯

πŸ’¬ *The Power of Openness in Communication*

- Good synergy in communication means opening our hearts and minds to others. Even when we disagree, we can learn from each other’s views. Instead of focusing on who’s “right” or “wrong,” we find a “third way” that benefits everyone. 🌐❤️πŸ’‘

πŸ’ͺ *Turning Challenges into Success*

- Synergy makes it possible to turn problems into progress by involving everyone. In a place of trust, fears disappear, and obstacles become chances to grow. Together, we build a culture of shared goals that lifts everyone up. πŸ›€️πŸ”‘πŸš€

πŸ’– *Courage to Respect Differences*

- Don’t be afraid of different opinions. When someone sees things differently, say, “Good! You have another view.” You don’t have to agree, but value their perspective. Together, we can find solutions we may not see alone. πŸ™ŒπŸ—£️✨

🌐 Synergy isn’t just something we do—it’s a lifestyle. It’s about moving beyond “me” and “you” to “we,” creating a powerful force together. When we embrace synergy, we unlock a great potential that can change our lives and our communities.

πŸ”— Part Four: Renewal

Imagine you're trying to cut down a tree with a blunt axe. You keep pushing, sweating, and getting frustrated, but the tree barely moves! 🀯 Someone comes by and says, "Why not take a break and sharpen your axe?" You pause, sharpen the axe, and suddenly, cutting down the tree feels so much easier! That’s what Habit 7 is about—keeping your “axe” sharp! 🌳

*✨ Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw (Principles of Balanced Self-Renewal*

*Renewing yourself is like keeping your most valuable tool sharp—YOU! Balance and take time to grow in these four important areas:*

*1️⃣ Physical Renewal - Take Care of Your Body*

Get active to keep your energy up! Whether it's a brisk walk, jogging, or stretching at home, build up your endurance, flexibility, and strength. A healthy body powers a strong mind and helps you enjoy life more! πŸƒπŸ½‍♂️πŸ’ͺ🏽

*2️⃣ Spiritual Renewal - Connect with What Inspires You*

Find time for what brings you peace and purpose. This could be praying, reading scripture, or enjoying nature. These moments recharge your spirit and bring clarity to what truly matters to you. πŸŒ…πŸ™πŸ½

*3️⃣ Mental Renewal - Keep Your Mind Sharp*

Learning never stops! Try reading new books, writing down your thoughts, or even taking courses. Growing your mind opens doors and helps you face challenges confidently. πŸ“šπŸ’‘

*4️⃣ Social/Emotional Renewal - Build Strong Relationships*

Renew your social side by connecting meaningfully with others. Show kindness, build trust, and be there for the people in your life. Strong relationships are a source of joy and support. πŸ‘₯❤️

*Balance in Renewal*

Renewing each part of yourself helps all the other parts stay strong too! A balanced life brings out your best and makes each day feel more fulfilling. πŸ’―

Take time to sharpen your saw, and you’ll find that life’s challenges become easier to handle, and your journey becomes more enjoyable and impactful.

*✨ Inside-Out Again: The Journey Within*

🎈 Have you ever seen a flower bloom from a tiny seed? Just like that, *the Lord works from the inside out*. The world tries to change people by focusing on what’s outside, but Christ changes us from within. The world may pull people out of the slums, but Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they can lift themselves up.

🎈 *The Power of Family*

A strong family, filled with love and support, is a mighty force. When parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins come together, they help us understand who we are and where we come from. Just think of the excitement we felt watching the series *Roots*. Each of us has our own roots and the ability to trace them back to our ancestors. But this isn't just for us; it’s for our children and their children. The two greatest gifts we can give them are *roots and wings*.

🎈 *Becoming a Transition Person*

Giving our children wings means empowering them to rise above the negativity of the past. You don’t have to repeat the mistakes of your parents. Even if you faced challenges growing up, you can rewrite your story. You can choose to love and support your children, breaking the cycle of pain. By understanding and forgiving your own parents, you can create a positive relationship with them, too.

You are a *transition person*, linking the past with the future. Your change can impact many lives down the line.

🎈 *Real Change Starts Inside*

True change doesn’t come from quick fixes or temporary solutions. It starts deep within us, reshaping how we think and see the world. As Amiel wisely said, *“To achieve unity with ourselves and those we love is the sweetest fruit of our efforts.”* We have all felt the joy of true unity, as well as the pain of division.

Building a life of integrity and love isn't easy. It requires commitment. But it is possible! Start with small victories each day, focusing on what truly matters. As you nurture this growth, you will taste the sweet fruits of a fulfilling life.

🎈 Remember, as Emerson said, *“What we persist in doing becomes easier.”* It’s not the task that changes, but our ability to do it. By centering our lives on the right principles and finding balance, we can create meaningful, peaceful lives for ourselves and for those who come after us.

🎈 We are not just humans having a spiritual experience. We are *spiritual beings having a human experience*. Let's make it a beautiful one!

Faith First! πŸ™Œ

Imagine this: Abraham was an old man, Sarah was an old woman, and they had no child. But God said, "You will be the father of many nations!" Abraham looked at himself, then at Sarah, and probably laughed small, saying, "God, are you sure? At this age?" Yet, he believed. πŸ’ͺ

Faith is not about logic or what makes sense. Abraham didn't try to impress God with good deeds or his own power. Instead, he trusted God. And because he believed, God called him righteous. It wasn’t about Abraham’s actions—it was about his faith. πŸ™

Now here’s the sweet part: this promise is not just for Abraham. It’s for you and me! No matter your background, tribe, or mistakes, if you have faith in God who raised Jesus from the dead, you are declared righteous. Your sins are forgiven, and you’re a child of promise. πŸ•Š️

So, stop thinking you need to “earn” God’s blessings by overdoing good works. Faith is the key! Believe in His promises, trust His timing, and watch Him turn impossible situations into testimonies. Just like He made Abraham a father at 100, He can bring life into your dead situations.

Faith brings joy! Faith brings peace! Faith makes us right with God!

Keep your faith alive. God is faithful to do exactly what He promised. πŸ™Œ

A to Z list of Powerful, Soul-lifting Scriptures

I'm In Love

I'm in love, and it's true,

Every time I see you, my heart says "dΓΉn" like stew.

Your smile shines bright, like the afternoon sun "ọsan,"

With you by my side, every day is "ọjọ ayọ," no wrong.

When you speak, my heart does a dance,

Like "egwu" in the village, it’s a sweet romance.

Your voice is like "mmanα»₯," smooth and fine,

I thank God daily that you are mine.

In the market, I buy "suya" to share,

Thinking of you, nothing can compare.

Your laughter is "kwantace," strong and pure,

With you, I know my love is secure.

No one can love the way I love you.

You’re my "ife," my joy, my "sarki" king,

Together forever, we'll dance and sing.

Yoruba:

1. DΓΉn – Sweet or pleasant

2. Ọsan– Afternoon

3. Ọjọ ayọ – Day of joy or a joyful day

Igbo:

1. Egwu – Dance or music

2. Mmanα»₯ – Oil, often used to symbolize richness or smoothness in Igbo culture

Hausa:

1. Suya – A popular grilled meat delicacy, often associated with joy and celebration

2. Kwantace – To lie down or relax

3. Sarki – King or ruler

We Rise Like We’ve Never Fallen

We live like we have never died,

In each heartbeat, God's grace is our guide.

We breathe in hope, our spirits revived,

Like the sun that always breaks through the sky.

We walk like we have never tripped,

Through trials and storms, we never slip.

Our feet steady, our steps firm and strong,

With every stride, we sing a new song.

We rejoice like we have never known pain,

Dancing through life's sunshine and rain.

Even in tears, our hearts still smile,

For joy comes after every trial.

We eat like we have never been hungry,

God’s table, always full and plenty.

Our souls nourished, our bodies fed,

By His hands, we've always been led.

We have faith like we've never feared,

Mountains move, and doubts disappear.

With God's promises, we always stand,

Holding tight to His outstretched hand.

We run like we've never been stopped,

Over hurdles, we've never dropped.

With eyes fixed on the prize ahead,

We soar on wings where angels tread.

So, we live, we walk, we run, we trust,

In God’s great love, our hearts adjust.

For in His power, we stand tall,

Unshaken, unbroken, through it all.

Live Today, Don't Postpone Your Happiness

Every day is a gift. Many people keep waiting for the "perfect" moment to be happy. They say, "When I get that job, I’ll be happy," or "When I build my house, I’ll finally smile." But what if that perfect time never comes? What if you spend all your life waiting, and forget to enjoy the present?

Happiness is not found in the things we are waiting for tomorrow. It’s in the moments we are living right now. You don’t need big things to make you happy. The joy in small things, like spending time with family, laughing with friends, or even enjoying a cool evening breeze, can brighten your heart today.

Stop postponing your happiness. Every day has its blessings, and you deserve to enjoy them. Life may not always be perfect, but you can still find reasons to smile today. Don’t keep delaying your joy. Live the moment, and let happiness find you now.

The future will come, but don’t miss today’s happiness waiting for it.

Lord, Be Merciful to Me!

If you don’t know how to be saved, just call on God, saying, “Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner.”

My brothers and sisters, sometimes we feel lost, broken, and unworthy. But no matter how far you think you have gone, God’s mercy is bigger than your mistakes. The key to salvation is not complicated. You don’t need big words or long prayers. Just come to God with a humble heart and say, "Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner."

When you call on God like this, His love will find you, His grace will cover you, and His mercy will change your life forever. Don't wait until you feel perfect; come as you are, and He will do the rest.

Call on Him today. He is waiting!

Sinner's Prayer for Salvation:

Dear Lord,

I know that I am a sinner, and I need your mercy.

Please forgive me for all my wrongs.

I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again to give me new life.

Today, I ask You to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior.

Help me to follow You and live for You every day.

Thank You for saving me and making me a child of God.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

If you prayed this prayer, know that God has heard you, and your journey with Him has just begun! Keep trusting Him.

πŸ“” Finding Favour With The King / Tommy Tenney

(Protocol of the Palace)

Esther’s Secrets of Finding Favour with the King πŸ‘‘

1️⃣ Never underestimate the potential of one encounter.

2️⃣ Seek the heart of the King, not the splendor of his kingdom.

3️⃣ One day of favour can be worth more than a lifetime of labour.

4️⃣ Worship is the protocol that protects the King and qualifies the visitor.

5️⃣ Influence flows from intimacy, and access comes from relationship.

6️⃣ If you learn what the King favours, you can become a favourite.

7️⃣ If your enemy is the King's enemy, then your battle is the King's battle.

8️⃣ Favour is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.

9️⃣ The deeper you go into the palace, the fewer the people, but the greater the provision.

πŸ‚ Interesting Facts About Bokolo Cattle in Nigeria! πŸ‚

Bokolo cattle, also known as White Fulani, are a true pride of Nigeria! With their beautiful white coats and impressive horns, they stand out in any herd. These cattle are not just good-looking; they are incredibly tough and can handle Nigeria’s hot and dry weather without any trouble. This makes them perfect for our environment, thriving where other animals might struggle.

Bokolo cattle are a farmer’s best friend. Not only do they provide delicious and nutritious meat, but they also give rich milk that can be used to make fresh, tasty dairy products like yogurt and cheese. And they are strong enough to help with farm work too! Many Nigerian farmers rely on them to plow fields and transport goods, saving time and effort.

These cattle are more than just animals—they are a big part of our culture and traditions. In many communities, owning a Bokolo cow is a sign of wealth and success. They play a special role in ceremonies and festivals, adding a touch of tradition and pride to every event. Their gentle nature makes them easy to handle, which is a big plus for farmers.

What’s more, Bokolo cattle are naturally resistant to many common diseases, meaning they are easier to care for and keep healthy. This reduces the cost of veterinary care, making them a smart choice for anyone looking to start or expand a herd. Their ability to stay strong and healthy in tough conditions is one of the reasons why they are so valued.

Economically, these cattle are a treasure. They fetch good prices in local markets and are a reliable source of income for many Nigerian families. From providing milk and meat to helping with farm work and being a symbol of prosperity, Bokolo cattle are truly invaluable to Nigerian life.

So, when you see a herd of Bokolo cattle grazing peacefully, remember they are not just animals but a vital part of our history, economy, and daily life! πŸ„πŸ’š

God Is Our Help: Returning to Him for Victory and Peace

Beloved, today let's draw inspiration from 1 Samuel 7—a story of Israel's journey back to God. The Ark of the Lord, symbolizing God's presence, was brought to the home of Abinadab, and for twenty years, Israel felt distant from God. They mourned, feeling abandoned, but God was still watching over them.

Samuel, the prophet, called the people to true repentance. He asked them to put away their foreign gods and focus only on the Lord. He told them, "If you are serious about returning to the Lord, get rid of anything that takes His place in your heart." And the people obeyed. They destroyed their idols and turned back to God with all their hearts.

My brothers and sisters, this story is a powerful reminder that God's mercy is always within reach, no matter how far we've wandered. But true repentance requires action. It means letting go of anything that separates us from God—be it fear, doubt, or distractions of this world.

When the Philistines attacked, Israel was afraid, but they did not run away. They cried out to God, and Samuel prayed for them. As Samuel sacrificed a lamb, the Lord responded with a mighty thunder, throwing the enemy into confusion, and Israel won the victory.

Just like the Israelites, we may face battles that seem overwhelming. But when we turn back to God, He fights for us. He confuses the plans of our enemies and gives us victory.

Samuel set up a stone and named it Ebenezer, meaning "stone of help," saying, "Up to this point, the Lord has helped us." Today, let us remember our own "Ebenezers"—the moments when God has stepped in and helped us, even when all seemed lost.

As long as Samuel was alive, the hand of the Lord was against Israel's enemies, and peace reigned in the land. This is what happens when we walk closely with God—He gives us peace, restores what was lost, and keeps us safe from our enemies.

So today, let us examine our hearts. Are there idols we need to destroy? Are we serious about returning to the Lord? If we are, let's cry out to Him, for He is ready to hear, to forgive, and to fight our battles.

Remember, God is our Ebenezer—our stone of help. And just as He helped Israel, He will help you, too, if you trust in Him.

Amen.

πŸ“š Key Insights from "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success" by Carol S. Dweck

🌸 Introduction

- Changing people's beliefs - even the simplest ones - can have profound effects.

- Much of what you think of as your personality grows out of your mindset.

- Much of what may be preventing you from fulfilling your potential stems from it.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 1: The Mindsets

- Everyone has a role model, someone who pointed the way at a critical moment in their lives.

- Human qualities, such as intellectual skills, can be cultivated.

- Your intelligence or personality is something you can develop as opposed to something that is a fixed, deep-seated trait.

- Education and practice can bring about fundamental changes in intelligence.

- People have more capacity for lifelong learning and brain development than they ever thought.

- People may start with different temperaments and different aptitudes, but it is clear that experience, training, and personal effort can take them the rest of the way.

- It's not always the people who start out the smartest who end up the smartest.

- The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life. It can determine whether you become the person you want to become and whether you accomplish the things you value.

- One thing exceptional people seem to have is a special talent for converting life's setbacks into future successes.

- The fixed mindset makes you concerned with how you will be judged; the growth mindset makes you concerned with improving.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 2: Inside the Mindsets

- Mindsets are simply beliefs. They are powerful, but they are just thoughts in your mind, and you can change them.

- People with a growth mindset push themselves so hard that they achieve the impossible.

- People with a growth mindset thrive when they challenge themselves.

- People with a growth mindset understand that it takes time for potential to blossom.

- Even with a growth mindset, failure can be painful. But it doesn’t define you. It’s a problem to face, deal with, and learn from.

- Mindsets are an important part of your personality, but you can change them. By just knowing about the two types of mindsets, you can start thinking and reacting in new ways.

- People with a fixed mindset crave to be at the top, but many growth-minded people reach the top because of their passion for what they do.

- The growth mindset is the belief that abilities can be developed.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 3: The Truth About Ability and Accomplishment

- Working hard isn't a sign of weakness; it's the key to getting smarter.

- Your progress is only as good as your knowledge. Every time you learn something new, you move forward.

- Many people think talent is a natural gift. In reality, it's fueled by constant curiosity and the desire to take on challenges.

- Great achievements require a lot of effort.

- Those who have surpassed you aren't necessarily more intelligent or talented; they simply used better strategies, learned more, practiced diligently, and overcame obstacles.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 4: Sports: The Mindset of A Champion

- In sports, everyone believes in talent. Billy Beane was a natural, just like how people saw him as the next Babe Ruth. But Billy lacked one crucial thing: the mindset of a πŸ†. When he began to fail, he realized that mindset was more important than talent.

- Take Muhammad Ali, for example. His brilliance came from his mind. It wasn't just his strength; he outsmarted his opponents.

- For Michael Jordan, success was also rooted in his mind.

- People often value natural talent over hard-earned ability, as Malcolm Gladwell points out.

- We like to think our heroes and idols are born different from us, but they are often ordinary people who made themselves extraordinary.

- Sampras and Joyner-Kersee showed all the qualities of a hero: losing the first set, almost being defeated, and then making a comeback to win in the end.

- According to Billie Jean King, the mark of a champion is the ability to win even when things are not quite right.

- Coach John Wooden said that ability can get you to the top, but character is what keeps you there.

- Those with a growth mindset find success in doing their best, learning, and improving. This is what we see in champions.

- A superstar’s talent can win games, but it's teamwork that wins championships.

- Character, heart, and the mind of a champion are what make great athletes. These qualities come from a growth mindset focused on self-development, self-motivation, and responsibility.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 5: Mindset and Leadership

- People with a fixed mindset do not admit or correct their shortcomings.

- When people live in an environment that values them for their natural talent, they struggle greatly when their image is threatened, according to Gladwell.

- A company that cannot self-correct cannot succeed.

- What sets a thriving company apart is the type of leader who drives it to greatness. These leaders face failures head-on, including their own, while maintaining faith in their eventual success.

- Fixed-mindset leaders, like fixed-minded individuals, live in a world where some people are superior and others are inferior.

- When bosses become controlling and abusive, they force everyone into a fixed mindset. Instead of learning, growing, and advancing the company, everyone starts worrying about being judged.

- It's hard for courage and innovation to thrive in a company with a fixed mindset.

- Andrew Carnegie once said, "I wish to have as an epitaph: 'Here lies a man who was wise enough to bring into his service men who knew more than he.'"

- When you enter the world of growth-mindset leaders, everything changes. It brightens, expands, and fills with energy and possibility.

- One of the key skills a successful businessperson must have is negotiation.

- People can grow and improve with effort, good strategies, and effective mentoring.

- Create an environment that values the development of ability, and watch leaders emerge.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 6: Relationships: Mindsets in Love (Or Not)

- For those with a growth mindset, the number one goal is forgiveness.

- *"Tout comprendre, c'est tout pardonner."* To understand all is to forgive all.

- People with a fixed mindset often expect good things to happen automatically, without putting in the necessary effort.

- A lasting relationship requires effort and the willingness to work through inevitable differences.

- Communication is crucial in any relationship. Discuss things openly; don’t make assumptions.

- A relationship without effort is doomed, not great. It takes work to communicate clearly and to address and resolve conflicting hopes and dreams.

- In a relationship, a growth mindset helps you rise above blame, understand the problem, and work together to fix it.

- The essence of marriage is to encourage your partner's growth while they encourage yours.

- Be compassionate, not judgmental. Show care and understanding towards others.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 7: Parents, Teachers, and Coaches: Where do Mindsets Come From?

- Every word and action sends a message. It tells children, students, or athletes how to view themselves. It might send a fixed-mindset message, saying, "You have permanent traits, and I'm judging them." Or it could send a growth mindset message, saying, "You are growing, and I’m committed to helping you develop."

- If parents want to give their children a valuable gift, they should teach them to love challenges, embrace mistakes, enjoy putting in effort, seek new strategies, and keep learning. This way, their children won't rely solely on praise for their confidence. They will have a lasting way to build and maintain self-belief.

- Haim Ginott, through his lifelong work with children, concluded, "Praise should focus not on the child's personality traits but on their efforts and achievements."

- Parents must strive to give their children the best by nurturing their interests, growth, and learning.

- A successful student is one who aims to expand their knowledge and explore new ways of thinking. They view grades not as an end goal but as a step towards growth.

- When parents help their children develop a growth mindset, they are giving them something valuable to strive for. They are also providing them with space to grow into well-rounded individuals who will make meaningful contributions to society.

- Great teachers believe in the growth of intellect and talent and are passionate about the learning process.

- Excellent teachers set high standards for all their students, not just for those who are already performing well.

- You don’t achieve a growth mindset by simply declaring it; it’s a journey you embark on.

- Parents who respond to their children’s setbacks with curiosity and view them as learning opportunities are instilling a growth mindset in their children.

- Research shows that when teachers focus on deeper understanding and work with students to achieve it, students are more likely to believe that their abilities can be developed.

πŸ›°️

Chapter 8: Changing Mindsets

- 🌱 The growth mindset is like a powerful engine driving change in your life. It's about believing that you can always improve, no matter where you start.

- πŸ’ Your beliefs shape your happiness or unhappiness. When you think positively, you open doors to joy and success; but when you let negativity control you, it’s like shutting those doors.

-πŸšͺ People with a fixed mindset often think the world needs to change for them. They might avoid problems, believing that if their life isn't perfect, they aren't either. But those with a growth mindset see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow, not as reasons to give up.

- 🌟 With a growth mindset, instead of holding onto judgment and bitterness, you gain fresh perspectives and new skills. You become more involved, eager to learn, and excel in what you do.

- πŸ”‘ When you let go of thinking in terms of good or bad, strong or weak, you unlock the ability to learn valuable strategies for self-control and success. Whether it's advancing your career, healing from a loss, supporting your children, losing weight, or managing anger, maintaining change is key.

- πŸš€ It’s incredible how people often stop the actions that helped them improve once they start feeling better. It’s like quitting your medicine because you’re no longer sick.

- πŸ” Changing your mindset isn’t just about picking up a few tips; it’s about seeing the world in a new light. When you adopt a growth mindset, you move from judging and being judged to learning and helping others learn. Growth requires time, effort, and the support of others, but the results are truly amazing.

Why Peaceful Protests Matter: Lessons For Africa

Across Africa, from Kenya to Uganda and now in Nigeria, protests have been shaking our continent. People are standing up to voice their frustrations and demand change. While these protests reflect deep-seated issues, it’s crucial to remember that peaceful protests are the best way to achieve real, lasting change.

Protests are a sign that people are unhappy with the status quo. In Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria, citizens are demanding better governance, fair treatment, and improved living conditions. Their voices are a powerful call for justice and reform. However, for these protests to lead to meaningful change, they must remain peaceful.

Why Peace Matters

1. Safety First: Peaceful protests ensure that people’s safety is prioritized. Violence can lead to unnecessary harm and can turn a peaceful movement into chaos.

2. Focused Message: When protests are peaceful, the message is clearer. It shows that the demands are reasonable and that the people are committed to change, not conflict.

3. Building Trust: Peaceful protests help build trust between the people and the authorities. It opens up channels for dialogue and increases the chances that the government will listen and act on the demands.

Meeting the Demands

To prevent further agitation, it is essential that the demands of the people are met. Ignoring these demands only fuels frustration and can lead to more unrest. Governments must address the issues raised in these protests, whether they are about corruption, inequality, or poor services. By listening and taking action, they can help restore faith in the system and promote a more stable and just society.

A Call for Unity

Let’s support the spirit of peaceful protest across Africa. It’s our collective effort that will drive the changes we need. By staying united and peaceful, we can push for a better future where everyone’s voice is heard, and everyone’s rights are respected.

Together, let’s advocate for positive change with calm and determination. Peaceful protests are not just a right; they are a powerful tool for building a better Africa.

God's Big Promise: Your Future is Bright and Blessed!

In Genesis 13:14-17, God speaks to Abram, promising him a land as far as the eye can see. He tells Abram, "Look in every direction—north, south, east, and west. All this land is yours and your descendants'. I will bless you with so many descendants that they will be like the dust of the earth—countless!" God then tells Abram to walk the land, for it is all his.

This promise is a powerful reminder that when God has a plan for you, it’s beyond what you can imagine. Just as He gave Abram a vast land and countless descendants, He has great things in store for you. Keep your eyes open and your faith strong. No matter how impossible your dreams may seem, God is bigger than any challenge. Walk boldly in the direction of your dreams, and trust that God will lead you to greatness. Your journey is blessed, and your future is filled with endless possibilities!

🌟Tomorrow About This Time🌟

Good morning, beloved! Today, we draw inspiration from 2 Kings 7:1, where the prophet Elisha delivered a powerful message from God. He said, "Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria."

Let’s take a moment to paint the picture. Samaria was in the middle of a terrible famine. People were suffering, hope seemed lost, and it looked like there was no way out. But then, Elisha, the man of God, brought a word of hope: “Tomorrow, things will change.”

1. Your Situation is Not Permanent

Sometimes, life can feel like a struggle. We face challenges that seem overwhelming – financial difficulties, health issues, family problems. But remember, just like in Samaria, our situations are not permanent. God can change things overnight. He can turn our mourning into dancing, our sorrow into joy.

2. Hold on to God’s Promises

Elisha’s message was a promise from God. And just like Elisha’s time, God’s promises are still true today. He has promised to be with us, to never leave us nor forsake us. No matter how tough things get, hold on to His word. He is faithful and He will come through for you.

3. Expect the Unexpected

God’s ways are not our ways. He can use the most unlikely situations and people to bring about our breakthrough. In the story, God used four lepers to bring deliverance to Samaria. Similarly, God can use unexpected means to bless you. Stay open and expectant.

4. The Power of Faith

Faith is believing even when we cannot see. The people of Samaria had to trust that God would do what He said through Elisha. In the same way, we must have faith in God’s word. Believe that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

5. Praise God in Advance

Sometimes, our breakthrough comes when we start praising God in advance. Don’t wait until you see the change. Start thanking Him now for what He is about to do. Your praise is a powerful weapon.

Conclusion

As we reflect on Elisha’s prophecy, let it remind us that God is still in the business of turning situations around. No matter what you are facing today, believe that “tomorrow about this time,” things can be different. Hold on to God’s promises, keep the faith, and expect your miracle.

Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your word and the assurance that our situations are not permanent. Help us to trust in Your promises and to have faith in Your power to change our lives. We believe that You can turn things around for our good. In Jesus' name, Amen.
